Privacy Policy
Calm Sums does not collect any personal data. It has no accounts, no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics, no in-app purchases and no third-party code. The app makes no network connections at all.
Everything a child does in the app stays on the device it was done on. The developer has no access to it.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Calm Sums app for iPhone and iPad (bundle identifier com.wrdeplay.multiplier), which was previously published as FlashTimes and as Times Table Game. In this policy, “we” and “the developer” mean wrdeplay, the publisher of Calm Sums; “you” means the child using the app and the parent or carer looking after them.
What the app stores, on the device
| Data | Why it exists |
|---|---|
| A profile name and a chosen picture for each child | So more than one child can use the app, each with their own progress |
| How well each fact is known, and when it was last answered | To choose which cards to ask next and when to bring known cards back |
| The results of the most recent rounds (up to 50) and a best result per deck | To show progress on the deck cards and the times chart |
| Each child's settings: colours, letters, text size, spacing, read-aloud and pause length | So each child sees the app the way they read best |
The profile name can be anything; it does not need to be a real name. None of this is sent anywhere. It is kept in the app's own storage on the device, protected by iOS and the device passcode.
Permissions
Calm Sums asks for no permissions. It does not use the microphone, camera, location, contacts, photos or the advertising identifier, and it does no tracking.
Read-aloud uses the speech voices built into iOS, which run on the device. Nothing is recorded or listened to. (Older versions of the app offered spoken answers using the microphone; that feature has been removed.)
What the developer receives
Nothing from the app. There is no server and no analytics. The only information that can reach the developer is what Apple provides to every App Store developer:
- Crash reports, only if the device owner has turned on “Share With App Developers” in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. Apple provides these without identifying anyone.
- App Store download figures, which are totals with no individual identity.
- Anything you choose to send us, such as a support email. We use it only to answer you and delete it when the matter is closed.
We do not sell, rent or share personal data with anyone.
Children
Calm Sums is made for children. Because it collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children, and it contains no advertising, no links out of the app and no purchases.
Deleting data
Deleting the app deletes everything it has stored. Because the developer holds none of it, there is no other copy to delete.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and similar laws you have rights over personal data held about you. The developer holds none from the app, but if you have a question or request, write to [email protected] and we will answer within one month. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts doing anything different with data, this policy will be updated, the date at the top will change, and the change will be noted in the App Store release notes.
